To obtain a Kyrgyz student visa, follow these steps:
  • Step 1: Receive your official invitation letter from JAIU (provided after admission confirmation)
  • Step 2: Apply at the Kyrgyz Embassy or consulate in your country with the invitation letter, passport, photos, and medical certificate. Our exclusive partner WCIEC can take care of all these processes.

JAIU's International Relations Department assists all new students with the visa and registration process.
All international students must register their residence with the State Registration Service (SRS) within 5 working days of arrival in Kyrgyzstan. The JAIU International Relations team handles this process on behalf of students living in university dormitories. Students in private accommodation must register independently or with JAIU's assistance.
Citizens of many countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, CIS member states, and a number of other nations can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free. However, for a long-term student stay you will still need to register and obtain the appropriate residence permit. Please check the current Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs list or contact JAIU for your specific country's requirements.
International students on a student visa in Kyrgyzstan cannot work according to local labour law restrictions. JAIU strongly recommends prioritising academic studies, as the medical curriculum is intensive.
If you need to take a leave of absence, you must inform both the Academic Department and the International Affairs Office. Your student visa is tied to your enrollment status. Extended absence without proper documentation may affect your visa status. A formal academic leave must be filed and approved before departing Kyrgyzstan.
