A Message from the Pro-Rector for International Relations & Investment
Dr. Dipak Chaulagain
MD, MS, FMAS, PhD Pro-Rector for International Relations & Investment | Associate Professor of Surgery (Neurosurgery) Jalal-Abad International University, Kyrgyz Republic
Welcome to the International Relations Office of Jalal-Abad International University. It is my privilege and honor to lead the efforts that connect JAIU with the global academic and healthcare community.

As a surgeon, researcher, and educator who has lived and worked across Nepal, India, Ukraine, Germany, Hungary and now Kyrgyzstan, I deeply understand what it means to cross borders in pursuit of knowledge and excellence. That cross-cultural experience shapes everything we do in this office — from how we recruit international students, to how we build research partnerships, to how we support every student who chooses JAIU as their academic home far from their own.

At JAIU, international engagement is not a formality — it is at the very heart of our institutional identity. Our student body represents nations across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Our faculty collaborate with researchers in Europe, India, and Central Asia. And our graduates go on to sit for licensing examinations — FMGE, PLAB, USMLE — and serve as doctors in countries around the world. That global reach is something we take immense pride in, and it is our mission to continuously strengthen it.

I invite partners, institutions, students, and stakeholders from across the world to join us in building a university that truly belongs to the world.

Warm regards,
Dr. Dipak Chaulagain

About the Office of International Relations

The Office of International Relations and Investment at Jalal-Abad International University is the institutional bridge between JAIU and the global academic world. Established as a dedicated administrative unit, the office oversees all dimensions of international engagement — from student recruitment and partner agreements to academic mobility, investment development, and cross-border research collaboration.

JAIU actively develops relationships with leading universities, hospitals, research institutions, and educational organizations from across the CIS, South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. With a multicultural student body representing over 10 nationalities and a faculty engaged in global research networks, JAIU's international character is woven into the fabric of university life.

Key Functions of the International Relations Office

  • International Student Recruitment & Admissions Support We coordinate the recruitment of international students — primarily for the MBBS (MD) program — through our network of authorized partner agencies, direct outreach, and participation in international education fairs. Our team guides prospective students through the entire admissions process, from application to visa, arrival, and orientation.
  • Partnership & MoU Development We initiate, negotiate, and formalize Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements with universities, hospitals, and academic bodies worldwide. These agreements form the foundation for student exchange, faculty collaboration, and joint research programs.
  • Academic Mobility Programs We facilitate outbound and inbound mobility for both students and academic staff — enabling participation in international conferences, exchange programs, clinical internships, and specialized training abroad. JAIU students and faculty regularly engage with partner institutions in India, the UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Europe.
  • International Research & Publication Support The office supports faculty and students in building international research collaborations. Dr. Chaulagain, as Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Scientific and Multidisciplinary Research (EJSMR) (www.ejsmr.org) , leads efforts to publish JAIU research in internationally indexed platforms and connect our scholars with global scientific networks.
  • Accreditation & Global Recognition Coordination We coordinate JAIU's institutional accreditation with bodies including GMC (UK), WHO/WFME/FAIMER (WDOMS listing), ECFMG, IAAR, AAEPO, and AMSE — ensuring our degrees are recognized globally and our graduates are eligible for international licensing exams.
  • Investment & Institutional Development The office also manages relationships with investors and development partners supporting JAIU's infrastructure, program expansion, and international competitiveness. We work to attract resources that elevate the quality of education and facilities available to our students.
  • Cultural Integration & Student Welfare For our international students, adapting to a new country can be challenging. Our office plays an active role in cultural orientation, community building, and ensuring that students from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other countries feel supported, respected, and at home at JAIU.
