Morphological disciplines

History of the Department of Morphological Disciplines

The Department of Morphological Disciplines is one of the leading academic and research units of the Faculty of Medicine at Jalal-Abad International University. Its establishment marked a significant milestone in the development of medical education in the region and the formation of a modern training model.

Founding Stage

Jalal-Abad International University was founded on September 1, 2024. At that time, the first basic structure on the Faculty of Medicine — the Department of General Medical Disciplines — was established.

Fundamental subjects forming the foundation of medical thinking were taught at the department:

  • human anatomy,
  • biology,
  • pathological physiology,
  • pathological anatomy,
  • therapy,
  • pediatrics,
  • hematology,
  • endocrinology,
  • pediatric propaedeutics,
  • physiotherapy,
  • evidence-based medicine and other subjects forming a solid foundation for future physicians.

Formation of Independent Departments

With the development of the faculty and an increase in the number of students, the need arose for deeper specialization and division of areas.

On August 30, 2025, by Order No. 83, two independent departments were established at the Faculty of Medicine of JIU:

  • Department of Morphological Disciplines,
  • Department of Clinical Disciplines.

The initiator and scientific supervisor of this reorganization was Candidate of Medical Sciences Sadyrova Nurgul Adilgazievna, who played a key role in establishing academic traditions of the faculty and developing scientific and methodological work.

The Department of Morphological Disciplines Today

The department is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences Maksakov Kanibek. Under his leadership, the team actively develops teaching and methodological activities, implementing modern educational technologies and digital solutions in the teaching of morphological disciplines.

The main goal of the department is to ensure high-quality training of students in fundamental medical disciplines.

Disciplines Taught by the Department of Morphological Disciplines

  • Normal and Topographical Anatomy — the study of the structure of the human body, its organs, systems, and their spatial relationships.
  • Histology, Cytology, and Parasitology — the science of tissues of the organism, their structure and functions.
  • Microbiology — the study of the cellular level of organization of living systems, processes of division and cellular life activities.
  • Pathological Anatomy and Physiology — the study of morphological and functional changes occurring in various diseases.
  • Biology and Fundamentals of Medical Genetics — understanding the biological foundations of life, heredity, and genetic mechanisms of diseases.
  • Normal and Clinical Biochemistry
  • Latin Language

Each of these disciplines forms the foundation of knowledge for a future physician, develops clinical thinking, and helps understand the deep processes occurring in the human body.

The teaching staff of the department combines experience and youth, tradition and innovation. Each instructor strives not only to impart knowledge, but also to foster in students clinical thinking, scientific interest, and professional responsibility.

Development Prospects

The Department of Morphological Disciplines at JIU is actively developing and setting ambitious goals.

In the near future, plans include establishing a laboratory for microscopic research, developing virtual anatomy modules, implementing digital educational platforms, and deepening students' research activities.

Special attention is paid to forming student research circles, involving young researchers in conferences, and publishing scientific articles.

The department actively collaborates with other university units, aiming to integrate science, practice, and education.

The Department of Morphological Disciplines is not just an academic unit,
it is the foundation upon which the medical profession is built,
a place where future physicians take their first steps into the science of the human body.
